Drones Free Fly
The objective of our activities is not only to introduce Drone technology, but to also encourage and build and interest in STE(A)M while keeping students in the rural areas active. Our sessions include learning the basics of droning, standard flying, and programming challenges. The interactive session is a part of Focusing On Me, Inc. 501(c) (3) STE(A)M initiative specifically designing 21st century STE(A)M skills in and out of the classroom programs! All of our programs have been designed to encourage teamwork, curiosity, critical thinking, courage, and creativity. Our spectacular demonstrations, hands-on activities, and real-world discussions make learning about STE(A)M fun for kids! No prior experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome. For grades 4 and above.
In Discover Drones, the learning environment will experience first-hand the technology that’s been sweeping over the world. Starting with lessons in engineering and technology, students begin by building RubiQ, their modular, open-source training drone! After learning the safety regulations and procedures surrounding unmanned aerial vehicles, they’ll then start with the basics of flight, first becoming comfortable on a training simulator before moving to line-of-sight piloting. After mastering RubiQ’s controls, it’s time for students to don their First-Person View (FPV) goggles, experiencing first-hand what super-charged STEM is like!
Coupled with hands-on, experiential learning, Discover Drones also utilizes the online educational apps, as an interactive online course that prepares pilots of all skill levels for safe and responsible drone entertainment. The app covers topics of safety, laws and regulations, flight basics and the many uses of drones! This digital course is optimized for use on mobile devices, allowing easy access from phones, tablets or computers, anytime, anywhere.
Coding with Drones
In Coding with drones using DroneBlocks it allows students to take the sky by force and learn computer science skills with drag and drop drone programming. The programming utilizes the latest and easiest-to-fly mini drones, with step-by-step web-based instructions as students work through the basics of programming, culminating in exciting STEAM challenges that test skills in coding and collaboration.
Our Professional Development for teachers and leaders allows us to share knowledge on how to bring drones into the classroom or to their organization through coding DroneBlocks which teaches STEM and the real-world application of drone technology. The mission is to demonstrate how to dive into the world of block programming with drones. Students can also learn programming languages such as Python and Swift.
